Applicable Solutions
Cell Culture
The last line of defense against cell culture contamination — Thermo Scientific™ Nalgene™ Rapid Flow™ Filter Units and Bottle Tops Filters are the best choice for the filtration of cell culture media, serum, additives, and buffers.
Discover the Product1 High Flow, Low Clogging Membranes
Increase efficiency in the time it takes to filter, enhance your speed with faster flow rates, and improve the stability of your media to save time in the lab by choosing the right filtration device. The column-based membrane support design of Thermo Scientific™ Nalgene™ Rapid-Flow™ Filter Units allows for up to 38% faster flow rates than competitors using a radial spoke membrane support design.
2 Wide Range of Membranes
- Polyethersulfone (PES) is the most broadly applicable and best-performing membrane for most cell and tissue culture media. Features fast flow rates, low rates of clogging, and low protein binding. 0.2 μm is stem cell tested
- Surfactant-free cellulose acetate (SFCA) contains none of the wetting agents found in regular cellulose acetate that are known to be toxic to certain cell lines. SFCA has low protein binding
- Nylon is tough, alcohol-resistant, and has lower levels of extractables
- Cellulose nitrate (CN) is ideal for filtering and clarifying buffers and other aqueous solutions when protein binding is not a concern
3 Wide Range of Pore Sizes
Available in the widest range of pore sizes:
- 0.1 µm protects against mycoplasma contamination
- 0.2 µm is considered sterilizing grade and removes all bacteria and larger microbes
- 0.45 µm and 0.8 µm are for specialty applications, particle removal, and general clarification
4 Lower Extractables and Leachables
The lower level of the extractables, the less chance of leachables contaminating your filtered sample. Thermo Scientific™ Nalgene™ Rapid-Flow™ Receiver Bottles have lower extractables present compared to all other equivalent filtration devices. We source only virgin resins from high-quality suppliers to ensure consistency and quality. We also optimize our products and processes to avoid the use of various additives and slip agents whenever possible.
