Barium fluoride, Puratronic™, 99.99% (metals basis), Thermo Scientific Chemicals
Description
Barium fluoride is used in windows for thermal imaging inspection application in electric power facilities. Barium fluoride can be used to make optical components like lenses, as it is transparent in UV (ultraviolet) and IR (infrared) regions. It is used in windows for IR fuel oil analysis. Barium fluoride is one of the fastest scintillators for the detection of X-rays, and gamma rays. It has been found to be useful for the detection of gamma photons in PET (positron emission tomography), high energy neutrons, alpha and beta particles. Its resistant to high energy radiation is higher than all other optical fluorides. It is employed in metallurgy for refining aluminum, production of welding agents, as a preopacifying agent and in glazing frits production.
This Thermo Scientific Chemicals brand product was originally part of the Alfa Aesar product portfolio. Some documentation and label information may refer to the legacy brand.
