Corning™ DMEM (Dulbecco's Modified Eagle's Medium) support cell culture growth and substitution of Pyridoxine HCl for Pyridoxal ensures improved stability over original formulation. Products undergo a variety of tests to determine functionality and toxicity using growth-promotion analysis.

  • Substitution of Pyridoxine HCl for Pyridoxal ensures improved stability over the original formulation
  • DMEM is a modification of Basal Medium Eagle (BME) containing four-fold concentrations of the amino acids and vitamins found in BME
  • Original formulation was used to culture embryonic mouse cells and has since been modified to support variety of normal and transformed cells, such as primary cultures of mouse and chicken cells
  • Formulations can differ in amount or absence of components such as glucose, sodium pyruvate, sodium bicarbonate and L-glutamine
  • Tested to determine pH and osmolality
  • Low levels of endotoxin, and absence of contamination
  • Tested for bacterial endotoxin using the Limulus Amoebocyte Lysate (LAL) Chromogenic Assay
