Dichloromethane is employed in pharmaceutical applications. It is employed as a solvent and paint remover, and as a blowing agent for polyurethane foams. It is useful for the fraction of flash pyrolysis oil and for the extraction of benzo-15-crown-5.

Solubility
Miscible with ethyl acetate, alcohol, hexanes, methanol, diethyl ether, n-octanol, acetone benzene, carbon tetrachloride, diethyl ether and chloroform. Immiscible with water.
Notes
Keep the container tightly closed in a cool, well-ventilated area. Incompatible with alkali metals, aluminum, strong oxidizing agents, bases, amines, magnesium, strong acids strong bases and vinyl compounds.
