Description
Kovac’s reagent is a biochemical reagent consisting of alcohol (1-pentanol), para-dimethylaminobenzaldehyde (DMAB) and hydrochloric acid. It is used for the diagnostic indole test. The indole produced yields a red complex with DMAB under the given conditions. Red coloration develops when the microorganisms possess tryptophanase activity. A negative reaction shows no color change.Specifications
