Description
Lanthanum(III) carbonate hydrate is used as a starting material for the preparation of lanthanum strontium manganite, which is used in solid oxide fuel cell applications. It is also involved in the preparation of high-temperature superconductors. It finds application in medicine as a phosphate binder. Further, it is used in the treatment of hyperphosphatemia. In addition to this, it is used for the tinting of glass, water treatment and as a catalyst for hydrocarbon cracking.
