PAPR Motor Blowers
PAPR Motor Blowers
Powered Air Purifying Respirator (PAPR) motor blowers, also referred to as blower units, blowers, or fans, encourage natural respiration by passing ambient air through a filter before delivering it to the headgear enabling workers to have clean, breathable air. Products are battery-powered devices for purchase separately to support customization of PAPRs, or to replace worn or damaged blower devices on existing PAPR systems and assemblies.
PAPR motor blowers must be paired with appropriate components and selected based on work environment and shift duration. They are suitable for a variety of industries including, but not limited to, healthcare, laboratory, welding, heavy industry, grinding, sanding, manufacturing, painting, and chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear (CBRN) environments.
NIOSH-approved PAPR motor blowers are required to deliver 6 to 15 cubic feet per minute (cfm) of air for loose-fitting hoods and helmets and 4 to 15 cfm of air for tight-fitting masks and facepieces. Belt-wearable blower housings typically feature alarms for filter replacement (based on detection of low airflow) and low power (requiring battery changeout). Most motor blowers feature the option of different air speeds to allow workers to adjust the volume of air to maximize comfort in varied work conditions.
Blowers are compatible with system components of the same brand and series. Other PAPR blower accessories, including batteries, dust covers, and air flow meters can be found in PAPR Parts and Accessories.
Regulatory compliance details for PAPR motor blowers are available at the individual product level.
